I know how important the infrastructure of our city is in moving forward. The City Council is responsible for much of the infrastructure in our city, and with my re-election I can guarantee that we will continue to upgrade and improve.
I will work on getting our city’s streets re-paved. Too many of our roads are old, uneven, and in disrepair. Artesia has the potential to be a destination city, where people want to travel to dine, shop, work, live and play. Our roads should reflect the pride that we have in Artesia. I will work to make this a reality.
In addition to our roads, I know that many of our sidewalks are in need of repair. I, like all Artesians, walk and jog on our sidewalks, and I know how much cleaner and modern a city looks when sidewalks do not have unsightly cracks or depressions from age and wear. I will work on a plan to assess the sidewalks in our city, and identify the ones in need of repair.
Finally, as a father, I fully realize the importance of keeping our streets well lit. I want all of our residents to feel safe when they are walking down the street at night. Ample and functioning streetlights make that a reality.
I am also committed to making downtown Artesia easily accessible for both walkers, bikers and public transportation users. All of the items I mentioned above will assist in this final goal. Accessibility to all parts of our city is crucial, and something I will champion in my next term on the City Council is a downtown shuttle.
I also pledge that if any sort of third-party commuter rail service is ever put into motion through our city, I will make sure that there is a stop in Artesia so that commuters and travelers have easy access to our city and the exciting downtown area I envision.
